Several people have responded regarding the article on Pride High featured in the Bay Area Reporter (B.A.R.), as well as the one found in Out Now Magazine. It was a single interview with the same reporter for both. With the Castro Street Fair just around the corner, the interviewer was pressed for time. David got everything together and to the printers quickly, and for that I'm very thankful. That said, I just wanted to clarify a few things from the articles:

"Whatever" is the SF Bay Area's first gay-owned, all-ages comic book shop, not the world's.

I'm a fan of Daredevil. I'm fully aware that Suravi is not the only visually-impaired comic book hero out there (Daredevil, Adam Strange, all three Dr. Mid-Nites, etc.).

Suravi does not project blasts of light from her eyes, but rather her hands.

Scotch Bonnet is not a lesbian. Suravi is.

Scotch Bonnet and Suravi are roommates and friends, not lovers.

Pandemonium was not my first film overall, but my sixth. It was my first feature-length film.

Pride High isn’t the first LGBT superhero comic book. And it isn’t the only superhero comic to feature LGBT teens. But I do believe that Pride High's welcome mat for reader characters is something special. I owe so much to all the LGBT writers and artists out there who've inspired me with their work, including Alison Bechdel, Allan Heinberg, Diane DiMassa, and Patrick Fillion. Pride High wouldn't be here at all if it wasn't for them.

Brian Ponce, the artist for Pride High is only a board member of the Gay League of America (GLA). The GLA is run by Joe Palmer.
