The Italian was just throwing a punch at Deadlift when the big boom went off. Flung through the air, pain flooding through him, the Demi-God realised that this was going to hurt a lot more when he hit the ground. The trouble was in being able to get his body into a position to minimise the damage; having no ground beneath your feet tends to make it difficult to regain your balance. The most he could do was hope he didn't land face first.

He went straight over Brunt and Toby, coming down on the dirt and grass just above the beach. A third crater was formed in about as many minutes. The Demi-God hit the ground sideways, being very thankful that his divine sire had bestowed such great strength and resilience on him.

"I think they were that way," Brunt said, pointing in entirely the wrong direction. The panic was messing with his head. Toby looked like he was in a lot of pain, the tears running down the blonde's face definitely matched the grimace screwing up his features.

Giovanni slowly pulled himself out of the crater, still smoking dramatically, his board shorts missing scorched patches. His jaw clenched, he stumbled out onto the grass clutching his left arm. It had become disjointed when he hit the ground, so he grabbed his shoulder and forced it back in. The pain fed the Rage, making it grow faster to catch up to where it had been. The Italian Demi-God looked down from the grass patch to the beach and found where Cam was standing. He started walking, slow and determined, toward the Empath.

The Rage continued to feed.

Cameron looked around, the world filling with the colours of the emotions around him...Brunt's rage, that would do...but what else did he have to work with? Traces of fear...one person was turned on...okay then...

"Back off, Giovanni" Cam said. "If you keep trying to be a menace then I'll just have to make you sting..."

"Okay, just try an' stay calm, lad." Riley opened his mystic sight and followed Brunt's lead, trying to get a bead on any sign of the Lifeguard station. A couple miles out, he realized there was nothing there and turned his vision backwards. Poor guy, his was scared out of his mind, and who wouldn't be? His brother was in a lot of pain, and he didn't know what to do. Riley just hoped he could get a fix on the station and get him help in time.

"Yeah, man, don't worry,"Aaron added comfortingly as he finally arrived on the scene, skidding to a stop in front of them. "If there's only thing Riley knows, its teleporting." Zipping open his fannypack, he removed a small first-aid kit from within and a bottle of the salve he kept for muscle pain (dit da jow), before turning his focus to Toby and his brother. "What happened? Where'd he get hurt?"

Jenn was just behind the two boys, praying that Toby would be alright and that Riley and Aaron could help him. She wanted to do something to help, but right now, it looked like the boys had it under control. Besides, it looked like there was about to be bigger fish to fry at the moment.

Mustering her courage, she joined Cam in trying to get Giovanni to back off, hoping he would take a hint and let some reason penetrate that thick head of hot air for once. He wasn't totally beyond it, just a bit hung up on himself, but that was no excuse for hurting someone like that, and without provocation for that matter!

"Yeah, come on, Giovanni, just breathe for a sec'," she reasoned in a placid tone, trying to bring down his anger. "We were all having a good time here, there's no need to make this any worse than it already is. Please, just, calm down, okay?"

Brunt tenderly held his short brother toward Riley, completely expecting the blonde would vanish in a puff of smoke as he did so - the Canadian knew only that the Irish kid was a teleporter, not how his powers worked. Riley was able to find, in the opposite direction of where Brunt had pointed, a lifeguard station. It wasn't too far - perhaps only a third of a mile at most - but it was obscured from sight where the students had decided to have their fun.

"Season hit him! I think I heard something break!" Brunt said to Aaron. Toby, for his part, seemed to be doing remarkably well at not screaming in pain. Possibly because it hurt too much to even attempt a deep breath. He had gone into shock at the damage done to his ribcage and was now alternating between crying silently and shuddering at the pain; which, of course, only served to provide more pain as the shuddering motion moved his broken bones.

The aura of rage around the Demi-God looked like it flared for a moment, as if it were reaching out at the Empath. Season smiled. It was not at all his usual smirk or grin, not a playful twist of those soft, dark lips. No, this was like a jagged crack in the Earth that revealed Hell benath. "Tua madre avrebbe dovuto essere strangolata prima di voi sono nati." He said to Cameron, speaking slowly in his rich accent. The way he spoke made it sound as though he flirting, but the words were nothing but malice.

The Italian's eyes flicked to Jenn for just a moment as she took up a stand next to the empath. He moved in a burst of speed that was certainly inhuman and suddenly stopped in front of Jenn. "You wanna calm me down, Rana? You think you can handle me?" His face wore a sneer instead of the flirtatious grin he'd usually follow such a remark with. As close as he was, it would be too easy for Jenn to be caught in the blast were Cameron to try another blast with Giovanni's current level of anger.

"Got it!" Riley exclaimed softly as he found the lifeguard station. It was close, and had it not been for his mystic sight he might've missed it at a normal glance. He'd kept his voice down so not as to alert Season to what they were doing. There was something going on with him that Riley didn't like... Well, more than the usual Giovanni, but this was different. The sooner they got Toby away from him, the better.

"Good, now get moving," Aaron snapped at Riley quietly, his eyes leaving Toby's shuddering form only for a moment to look at his friend. "It looks like Season damaged his ribcage real bad with that hit, the more he breathes, the more pain he puts himself in. The sooner we get him some proper medical help, the better."

"Gotcha, boss," Riley said as he gingerly took Toby from Brunt's arms, carefully cradling the Canadian in a fireman's carry as they'd been taught in Search & Rescue 101. A silent string of words crossed his lips, a prayer in his native Irish. And then, the two vanished in a blink of green light.

'Let's just hope the guys at the lifeguard station know what to do,' Aaron prayed as he turned to face Season, who was already inches from Jenn's face with a sinister smile playing at his lips. There was definitely something off with him, he could see it, and he could smell it. Cracking his knuckles, he slowly rose to his feet, ready to move in the minute things got ugly.

-------

Jenn's eyes grew wide at Season's nigh instantaneous approach, her whole body stiffening in some crazy fight-or-flight mode-lock. This was bad, real bad. If Cam tried anything, she'd get caught in the crossfire, and now she couldn't get in a good shot if she wanted to either. Jenn trusted her healing factor to take the brunt of the damage, but with Giovanni's powers, he could easily render it useless if he wanted. Or could he? She couldn't really remember right now, the situation was spiralling out of control and all she could do was try and think of a way to defuse it without anymore collateral damage. God, she could practically feel his breath he was so close! All she could do at this point was try to talk him down, and pray that there was still some logical part of his mind that worked through that thick head of hairgel and hot air.

"Y-Y-Yes, Giovanni," she finally managed to spit out, "That's right. I just want you to take a little step back, take a deep breath, and think for a sec. Por favor." She pleaded softly in Spanish for a moment, a natural accent in her voice. "Brunt didn't mean to ram into you like that, he and Toby were just having a little fun and didn't notice you until it was too late. This is all just a big misunderstanding that went too far. Now, Toby got hurt real bad, there's nothing that can change that this happened. But," she noticed the green flicker of Riley's departure out of the corner of her eye. "- At least now we can find a way to get past it. What's important right now is that Toby pulls through. When this is all over, then you and Brunt can find a way to settle this without someone winding up in the E.R. Sí?"

"An untidy mind" Cam knew a direct hit from the Demi God would do some serious damage...so he had to use the rage differently. He couldn't hold this off forever, Giovanni was very strong and the rage was fuelling him to a berserker level. "Very terrible"

One chance.

He leapt on Giovanni and kissed him, pulling at the rage and trying to draw it all out. This was risky but if frog-girl would get clear he could detonate or channel the rage into pain instead.

Depending on the situation...

Aaron's telepathy wasn't as strong as most mentalists, but he knew how to read people well, and the minute he saw Cam start to move, he knew the empath and a plan. He hadn't been expecting him to kiss Giovanni like that, but it worked at distracting him.

Now, it was his turn.

Moving with as much speed as he could muster, the kung-fu practicioner bolted towards the trio. The muscles in his legs were strong from training, and he moved so fast it was almost inhuman, though not at the level of demi-god like Giovanni. In one quick motion, he'd reached Jenn and swept her off her feet bridal-style before pushing off again for a considerable leap backwards, intent on putting as much distance between them and the others as he could.

"Eeek!" Jenn exclaimed in surprise as she was torn away from the two boys, mentally kicking herself for such a girly shriek. She knew that Aaron would tease her about it later, being the tomboy that she was, but right now, she was just glad to be away from Giovanni. He was so imposing, so angry, so full of rage, it was almost suffocating. The air was practically thick with wrath it was so palpable!

But right now, being carried back in Aaron's arms, she could only pray that Cam knew what he was doing.

There are few things as surprising as someone kissing you after you've just expressed a wish that their mother had been strangled before they were born, so really it was obvious that Giovanni would be shocked. The Rage Seed faltered for a moment, allowing the empath to draw some of it out; but the curse resisted Cameron's efforts, clinging to Giovanni like a creeper vine. Still, the effect had been lessened.

"What the HELL is wrong with you?!" Giovanni shouted in Cameron's face as he pulled the empath off his mouth. Holding the shorter teenager under the arms, Giovanni's glare could have wilted plant life. "I just threatened your mother and you KISS me?! What the hell?!"

Cam's pupils were dilated and his eyes glowing a dusky red, he was breathing heavily. "...Promises Promises, you couldn't kill her, I appreciate the olive branch...you taste like fireworks sound...no like landmines sound" he ran his hands down Giovanni's biceps to his forearms and then lowered his right handto his chest. "But if you want to understand...feel this" he slowly trace across the pale scar in his stomach, the memory shot from his body into Giovanni, not the bitterness and hatred and rage that the scar now meant but the fresh feelings of the moment it occurred.

The pain, confusion, betrayal, sorrow...to Giovanni it was his own mother that was stabbing him in the gut and shoving him into dark murky waters.

The shock was enough to knock him to his knees. Cam seemed to shiver in a weird expression of bottle up emotion. Which one was hard to tell. He let Giovanni keep holding him. "Let's connect, let me see what you're feeling and you can see what I feel" he ran his thumb over the round burn marks on his left shoulder with his right hand. The searing agony of burning flesh under a cigar rushed through Giovanni.

Cam's legs buckled as he traced a hand over his ribs and Giovanni felt the pain of a steel capped boot to it. No invulnerability just the pain...the bruises came sort of on their own...just for a few moment.

Cam scrashed to his knees with Giovanni. "What's in your heart Giovanni ? Come on...I'm showing you mine, you have to show me first?" he gasped. Another kiss to draw off the misty aura of emotions around Giovanni...the brilliance of red was so strong...it burnt to sense almost.

Dani looked around. "Does anyone know where there's a teacher?" she called.

Troy responded by running at Cam and Govanni to try and intervene again.

Giovanni wasn't prepared for this, his anger wasn't letting him think. Normally he'd just turn off Cameron's powers and laugh as the little human tried to hurt him, but not this time. The impression of the knife stabbing into his gut made him hunch forward, coughing onto Cameron's chest as he slumped. He coughed again and with it came a sob, making him sound like a wounded animal. His mother was the dearest person in the world to him and this forced emotion of betrayal felt like it would kill him.

But the Rage refused to back down. It turned the hurt of betrayal into more fuel for the inferno. Giovanni felt the burns Cameron had suffered, without his blessed resilience, and the pain made him roar. The Rage saw its chance as the psuedo-beating continued. Giovanni's confusion at what was happening hid the Rage for a moment as Cameron began pulling at his past pains.

The utter loneliness of growing up so revered by everyone around him that they couldn't even see him as a real person. The pain he caused his mother every time he acted out and the heartache of seeing her cry. The way the other children broke so easily only adding to how isolated he was. The fear of having everything stripped from him when he was sent away. The unbearable knowledge he was sent away because even his own mother would flinch and draw back when he came too near.

Then the Rage burst through, using all this fear and pain to ravage Giovanni and reach into Cameron. It wanted to spread now. The roots had grown too large for this pot. Giovanni's hands clenched tightly around Cameron's biceps, squeezing and slowly turning as if he were going to wrench them out of their sockets. L'estate burst out around him, intensifying the pain Cameron poured into him.

Cam gasped and threw up his defences to hold off the rage.

His powers weren't so easily influenced but he was unfamiliar with them, that's why he had to use his own memories or those of his victims. He'd never been taught much by his parents in that line.

His mind was compromise by his empathy...so they taught him how to fight superhumans hand to hand. Mainly by avoiding hand to hand.

He grasped Giovanni's thumbs and twisted with the pressure the Italian was applying with them. He kicked out in between Giovanni's legs...crashing to the ground as he made Giovanni buckle.

That was it...he was out.

That's when Troy waded in and slammed into Giovanni at full speed, a glowing haze of gold shimmering across his flesh as they crashed along the sand and through a sand castle.

Fuelled by the desire to protect others Troy's strength was increasing quickly. But the interaction with the aura of Summer was...unusual

In the mindless pain and anger, Giovanni had no idea what Cameron was doing; nor what he was trying to do to Cameron. He was one to rely on brute strength, so Cameron's finesse slipped out of his grip easily. A kick to the groin doesn't tend to help a man's situation, either. He buckled, hands falling into the sand to hold him up. It didn't last long before a freight train - or at least something that felt like one - hit him head on.

There was an explosion of sand, a number of surprised and injured shouts, and then a moment of silence. Giovanni began to push himself up out of the sand, not sure what the weight on his back was. It took him a moment to get his feet under him and stand up, but when he did he found out what the unknown weight was. One of the walls of the sandcastle had collapsed on him, but that was only part of it. There was also the limp body of an extremely dazed Sculptor now splayed on the pile of sand that had previously fallen on top of them.

Giovanni looked about, ignoring the pained groans of the artist as he searched for whoever had tackled him. Thinking it was Deadlift, the Demi-God was working himself into a frenzy with thoughts of how to get his revenge. He wasn't the first one to see his new attacker, though. Mitch screamed in fright, scrambling away from what he was looking at. A mind-numbing fear was scorching through him and all he could do was try to get away.

Aaron saw Cam go down, but not before he landed a shot in Giovanni's groin. He couldn't help but snicker at that, but not before noticing the demi-god's "Summer" ability flare up in response. That wasn't good, especially if Jenn got injured. Just then, Troy slammed into Giovanni and practically leveled Mitch's sand castle, causing it to topple over on all three of them.

Not good. Now Mitch was caught in the crossfire, and that just meant there was another bystander in Giovanni's path. With the state the demi-god was in, he could lash out at any moment and seriously injure Sculptor, and that was not going to happen on his watch.

"MITCH!" Jenn cried out, panic in her voice as she saw her friend desperately scramble away from Giovanni as the demi-god slowly rose to his feet, still dazed from Cam's empathy and Troy's tackle.

"That's it," Aaron growled as he activated his telepathy. "Rana! Crowd Control, get Mitch clear of Giovanni before he gets hurt, but don't get too close. He's got Summer going, and if you get hurt, your healing factor'll be reversed."

"Gotcha." Jenn dropped into a crouch and sprang at the three boys, dodging nimbly around Giovanni and Troy before landing in front of Mitch. The poor kid was scared out of his wits, and who wouldn't be? As quickly and gently as she could, La Rana scooped him up and jumped away from the battle. "It's okay, Mitch, I've got you."

--------------

Aaron bolted towards Giovanni with all the speed he could muster at this point, telepathy flaring as he lashed out with a potent burst of psychic energy. A monkey-like screech issued from his lips as he used his powers to rob the demi-god of his sight momentarily. Coiling his fingers until only the index and middle were at full length, Aaron skidded to a stop in front of Giovanni and struck.

One! Stab at the pressure points just above both knees, buckling them and numbing his legs.

Two! Strike to the points beneath the biceps, numbing the arms temporarily.

And three! Shifting into a solid, sideways Horse Stance, Aaron pivoted at the waist, and leaned in to strike Giovanni square in the chest with both fists. While his strength wasn't on the demi-god's level, it was enough to stagger him backwards in his weakened state. Satisfied with the successive series of blows, Aaron resumed a normal "ready" stance, pulling his telepathy back to allow Giovanni the use of his sight again, provided he could still fight in that state.

--------------------
(OOC: I've actually been hit with the pressure point strike to the arms before in Kung-Fu class (before the economy tanked), it's not fun at all. It took me a good five minutes to get the feeling back in my forearms (lol :P).)

Mitch wasn't looking at Giovanni, his eyes were on something else. Jenn grabbed him and got him out of the way, but before they'd even gotten away from the fight she heard him whispering under his breath.

"He's a monster, a gorgon, a fury, he must be, nothing could look like that and not be a monster... He's a monster, he's a monster, he's a monster," the whisper became a recursive loop.

Giovanni's Summer was making everything worse; not only did Aaron's telepathy rob him of his sight momentarily, it made his mind and his eyes feel like they were burning. The hits to the pressure points were met with resistance, but blind-fighting was not something Giovanni was usually good at even when he wasn't blind with Rage as well. He went down like a sack of potatoes, but his aura remained unfurled.

Which was what posed the current problem. Two auras that are already dangerous enough should not be mixed. Aaron felt the two mix around him, freezing him with fear as Troy's power took hold. The attraction was now terror, casting the blessed boy in the worst possible light to make him more terrifying than one's own nightmares.

Jenn landed a few yards away from the conflict in a frog-like crouch, still cradling Mitch in her arms. Satisfied she was a safe distance from the action, she gingerly peeled the terrified artist off herself and started trying to calm him down. If that mantra he was repeating in a loop was anything to go on, something was happening here that they needed to be on the top of their game to face.

"Mitch, Mitch calm down, it's okay," she reassured her friend gently, an almost motherly tone to her voice. "We're safe now, Aaron and the others are handling him, but I need you to calm down and try and tell me what you saw. Please, snap out of it."

---------

Right away, Aaron knew something was wrong. The air smelled like a mix of olive and some foul stench he just couldn't place. The soothing olive scent was obviously coming from Troy's aura, enhanced by the godly ichor running through his veins, but that disgusting smell coming from Giovanni was different from the usual, spring-like scent he gave off. This was gut-wrenching, aweful. Something else was at work here, he could feel it.

And that wasn't all he felt.

All at once, the scent of Troy's aura made a violent 180 and turned sour, gaining a dark, forboding presence that made his blood run cold. The scent combined with whatever was invading Giovanni's aura and took on an ashen taste and a decaying smell, like being locked in a casket with a corpse. It had to be the interaction of Season's Summer ability and Troy's blessing from Venus, twisting the goddess' gift into a curse, one of fear and terror.

'Its just Summer, its not Troy,' He tried to remind himself as he willed himself to turn and look at his fellow hero-in-training, repeating that as he slowly turned his head. Good God, just looking at his friend was enough to freeze him in place with mind-numbing fear. Sweat poured from his brow, his muscles locked-up, his throat became dry, his heart hammered away in his chest, his stomach churned, and the hairs on the back of his neck stood on end.

'Its not real. Its not real. Its not real.' This mantra was all that was keeping him from breaking down on the spot. The Monkeys wouldn't interfere, his life wasn't in danger, but right now it was as if every fear his mind held captive were trying to claw free from his skull.

--------------------

Riley reappeared on the deck of the Lifeguard station, a slight pant to his breathing at the strain of having a passenger to teleport as well, but otherwise doing well. The same couldn't really be said for poor Toby, however. The Canadian boy's condition hadn't really changed since the teleport only a few moments ago, but that didn't mean it couldn't worsen in the next few moments. He needed help, and fast.

"Is there a doctor in the house?!" The Borrower shouted urgently, praying to Queen Mab and any of the Tuatha Dé Danann who might be listening that they could get help. Normally, he might try to make light of the situation by remarking how he'd always wanted to say that line and flash his trademark, infectious grin.

But there was nothing funny about this, not when someone's life was quit literally in his hands.
